Achievements for Water for Africa
 
 

We have been able to provide LifeStraw filters for LWR’s (Lutheran World Relief)  Sand Dams Water Collection Project. LWR through its own internal funding has been supporting a water collection project in 6 communities in Makindu province in eastern Kenya

Additionally, we have just released an additional $60,000 to Lutheran World Relief for prepositioning of water filtration units in Dubai (for Asia and East Africa) and Panama (for Latin America) for future emergencies

Released funds to LWR’s West Africa team to help with existing early recovery/resilience work in Niger— Supplied clean water to 5,000 people in Niger.

Supplied 47 community filter units to the people of Vanuatu after the 2015 cyclone in partnership with Lutheran World Relief, Link the World, and the Australian Air Force.

Partnered with IMA World Health to provide water filtration to 482 clinics in the Democratic Republic of Congo. (IMA is matching our donation dollar for dollar.)

Shipped over 200 community units (which each provide clean water for up to 100 people for up to three years) to the people of Nepal after the earthquake.

Partnered with IMA World Health to work towards having a cistern to collect water and a Community LifeStraw filter in every village in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Provided filters for schoolchildren in Kenya – it was called Follow the Liters.  We provided 40 Community Units there in 2016.

Provided LifeStraw personal and community water filters to help the people of hurricane ravaged Haiti

In 2018 we also held informational seminars and fundraising events as the  Episcopal Diocese of Texas  diocesan council and the Southwest Texas Synod of the ELCA Assembly, started the WFA cycling team to raise awareness and funds, held Berm bucks sales in association with Dell Diamond, held Water for Africa Day at Dell Diamond as part of the Chasco community Partnership, participated in the Frontier Days Parade, had a display for Frontier Days at Old Settler’s park, and worked with kids at Meridian school
